Overcoming Deployment One Day at a Time

About the Author

I always find myself with instantaneous writer’s block when asked to describe myself.  I don’t want to sound like everyone else because even though I’m a 27-year-old wife, mother of two, wanna-be chef, student, aspiring blogger, etc. (like so many are), I am also an emotional yet sturdy girl, an unmotivated overachiever and an Army spouse trying to find my way through our first deployment all the while sharing my experiences, mishaps and achievements with my children and the world.

*Phew*  Is this part over yet?  I’d like to start my 270-day (plus or minus) journey…

*UPDATE*:  While our first 270-day deployment draws near a close, I have decided to make a few changes to the direction(s) of my awesome blog.  I took an unexpected hiatus away from the blogging world.  Deployment hit me harder than expected.  Yet…I prevailed.  Woo!  Now I want to share some of the many passions I’ve come to find during mine and my husband’s time apart.  Most of my blogs will circulate around the food and party genres with the occasional random, military-related or kid posts.  I like to dabble in a bit of everything.  It keeps me from severe boredom.  I hope you enjoy every bit of it as much as I do.  Please feel free to contact me!

Three years ago we were attached at the hip; nothing could keep us apart. Now we’re facing our first deployment: 270 days without him by my side.

  1. I just a few moments ago wrote a post about my boyfriend and being in love, and then I read this and I can’t imagine being apart for so long! So I wish you luck with learning to be alone for the time, and I hope blogging distracts you nicely from the distance. I only started mine a month ago, not sure how it’s going haha.
Oh and I’m really sorry if I just said something that made everything worse, but you guys look lovely, and I’m sure the days will be up before you know it!

Hey, Thanks so much for the comment. I appreciate knowing that my blog isn’t only read by me. Ha. I’m sure this will prove a great distraction for me. It has so far, and the deployment hasn’t begun.

  3. We’ve done five months apart before, but he wasn’t in combat at the time. I’m hoping to keep myself and the kiddos busy busy busy all year and hopefully daddy will be back before the end of second grade.

Thank you so much for the nomination! I’ll get right on it. I’ve been SO busy since deployment. Yikes.

      • We’ve been keeping busy too… Unfortunately, I’ve quickly discovered that I am fine… So long as I don’t sleep in my bedroom LOL I’ve been sleeping on the couch since he left because I burst into tears when I try to sleep in our bed. I’m hoping that doesn’t last long or we’re gonna need a new couch when he gets home. LOL good luck hun.

  5. Hi. I hope you are coping with your separation. It must be tough on all of you.
